(P.S. … free lock screen at the end for an everyday reminder of God’s unconditional love for YOU!”
We so often judge ourselves and envy others without even realizing it. This is because we are so intuitively focused on how our image is being portrayed to others, that we are forgetting the very image that we were created in, GODS image! This message especially goes out to all of the women out there who feel the need to conform to societal standards. Romans 12:2 tells us “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind”!
The Only Approval You Need
Every single one of us has some sort of struggle with image. And this is such a common problem, that often times we don’t even see it as a “problem”, we see it as a norm. Because of this, we forget to ask ourselves why we feel this way! Why do we feel the need to look a certain way, or classify ourselves? Classifying and changing who we are leads to envy and comparison, which will then of course lead to MORE classifying and changing, and it’s a giant cycle of negativity! So why would we do this to ourselves? It’s so common that there has to be something we’re all getting out of it, and that something is APPROVAL. We seek approval of our surroundings because we want to be LOVED. We want to be valued. The saying “You are who you surround yourself with” is so valid because we want to be valued by the people around us, so we make an attempt get approval from them. However, let’s dive into God’s word because he has guidance for us and wants to rescue us out of this cycle of negativity and search for belonging.
“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10 ESV
Who’s approval do you seek? Your families, your co-workers, your spouse, or maybe your friends? God is telling us here that to be a servant of Him, we must STOP seeking approval from the imperfect humankind and seek approval from the perfect Lord. We must strive to be like Him in all ways, because we were made in His perfect image! And though we have wronged and sinned every day, we can still be rescued from the tiring cycle of comparison. Strive to live the life God has for you, and when you begin to do this you will feel all of the pressures of the people and things going on around you entirely lifted! Because God has your back, and he wants to shine His unconditional love and joy through you.
